Carrara: the most important capital of white marble

Carrara is known all over the world for its white marble: in fact, it is the headquarters of the Apuan-Versilia marble industry. During the ancient Roman times, the city was established around the white marble mountains and artists from all over the world have gone to Carrara to choose the best piece of “white gold” for their creations.

Carrara is located long the Ligurian Sea, in north-western Tuscany. With Massa, it gives its name to the province of Massa-Carrara, which expandes from the sea to the Apuan Alps.
